Franklin Community House

The mission and vision of Franklin Community House is to offer affordable housing, emergency housing, transitional housing and a home for disabled men. It is our desire to see lives transformed. We want to empower people to become fully functional, contributing members of society.

Franklin Community House is a ministry of Franklin Community Development. The purpose of Franklin Community Development is to offer HOPE to citizens of Franklin and Williamson County by initiating ideas and partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and churches. The mission of Franklin Community Development is to offer H.O.P.E. through…

H – Housing

O – Occupational Training

P – Prisoner Care

E – Education

Franklin Community House will play a significant role in all four of those areas.

HOUSING

Franklin Community House will have three apartments. Two apartments will be one bedroom-apartments and one apartment will be a two-bedroom apartment. These apartments will be rented out at an affordable rate to low-income families.

In addition to the apartments, the main house (approximately 2,500 square feet) will be home for up to 10 disabled men from our community who are in programs, freeing themselves from addictions and harmful behaviors, empowering them to become contributing members of society.

Acceptance into Franklin Community House will be by referrals only. A background check will be done on each individual before their acceptance into the home.  In order to stay in the home each man will sign a covenant explaining what will be expected of them.

OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING

By partnering with other non-profits, Franklin Community House will offer job training and individual mentoring, helping residents find livable wage jobs, empowering them to be contributing members of society.

PRISONER CARE

Franklin Community Development is active in local jails and prisons, providing hope for the incarcerated. While it is possible that some of the men living in the home will be ex-offenders, those with sexual crimes will not be accepted into Franklin Community House. However, the men in the house will be encouraged to participate in prisoner care by writing letters and sending cards to those behind bars. (It is important to note that Franklin Community House is NOT a half-way house.)

EDUCATION

By partnering with other non-profits, Franklin Community House will be able to assist men obtain their GED/HSED. Furthermore, the men in the home will be assisted in writing their resumes, obtaining their driver’s license, getting felonies expunged, paying court fines and filling out forms to attend college or vocational schools. It is also the vision of Franklin Community House to provide a mentor for each man in the home.

Program Description:

  • Becoming educated and employed at a livable wage job.
