Did you read the newspaper this morning? That is, did you read The Tennessean? It was full of bad news about the economy. Here were the front-page headlines: “Hundreds apply for 60 jobs at the zoo.” (The actual number was 400 and the 60 jobs were only temporary, summer, food services help.) More headlines: “48 majors, 450 jobs may be cut at MTSU.” (If you are not from Tennessee, MTSU stands for Middle Tennessee State University.) One more headline, “Dow ‘bloodbath’ shows lack of faith in bailout.” (Yesterday, March 2nd, the dow reached a 12 year low, closing under 7,000.) …[read more]
